چکیده

The extent of abnormally perfused myocardium was compared in patients with and without chest pain during treadmill exercise from a large, relatively low-risk consecutive patient population (n=356) referred for quantitative thallium-201 single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). All patients had concurrent coronary angiography. Patients were excluded if they had prior coronary angioplasty or bypass surgery. Tomographic images were assessed visually and from computer-generated polar maps. Chest pain during exercise was as frequent in patients with normal coronary arteries (12%) as in those with significant (>50%o stenosis) coronary artery disease (CAD) (14%). In the 219 patients with significant CAD, silent ischemia was fivefold more common than symptomatic ischemia (83% versus 17%, p=0.0001). However, there were no differences in the extent, severity, or distribution of coronary stenoses in patients with silent or symptomatic ischemia. Our major observation was that the extent of quantified SPECT perfusion defects was nearly identical in patients with (20.9±15.9%Yo) and without (20.5±15.6%) exertional chest pain. The sensitivity for detecting the presence of CAD

Quantitative exercise thallium-201 single photon emission computed tomography for the enhanced diagnosis of ischemic heart disease.

The clinical utility of exercise thallium-201 single photon emission computed tomography was investigated in 360 consecutive patients who had concomitant coronary arteriography. Tomographic images were assessed visually and from computer-quantified polar maps. Sensitivity for detecting coronary artery disease was comparably high using quantitative and visual analysis, although specificity tende...

Comparison of rubidium-82 positron emission tomography and thallium-201 SPECT imaging for detection of coronary artery disease.

The diagnostic performance of rubidium-82 (Rb-82) positron emission tomography (PET) and thallium-201 (Tl-201) single-photon emission-computed tomography (SPECT) for detecting coronary artery disease was investigated in 81 patients (52 men, 29 women). PET studies using 60 mCi of Rb-82 were performed at baseline and after intravenous infusion of 0.56 mg/kg dipyridamole in conjunction with handgr...

Predictors of positive thallium 201 single photon emission computed tomography in patients of end stage renal disease.

OBJECTIVES To study coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factors predicting positive thallium-201 single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) indicating underlying CAD among patients of end stage renal disease. PLACE AND DESIGN: This cross-sectional (analytical) study was done at Department of Cardiology, Punjab Institute of Cardiology, from April 2004 to Dec 2007. METHODS One hundred co...

Coronary-to-pulmonary artery fistula in adults: Evaluation with thallium-201 myocardial perfusion SPECT

OBJECTIVES With the increasing use of multi-detector CT, the number of detected cases with coronary-to-pulmonary artery fistula (CPAF) has increased. Several previous studies reported severe cases of angina, but no appropriate tests to evaluate myocardial perfusion for patients with CPAF have been established. We evaluated the hemodynamic characteristics of CPAF using thallium-201 (Tl-201) sing...

Detecting meningeal carcinomatosis from breast cancer with thallium-201 SPECT.

Thallium-201 (201Tl) scintigraphy is one of the imaging methods used in the detection of various tumors including brain metastasis. We evaluated a patient with meningeal carcinomatosis from breast cancer by using 201Tl single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Meningeal spread of a tumor was noted on enhanced CT. SPECT revealed tumor localization in meningeal carcinomatosis. These res...
